Putin interview with Tucker Carlson shows Kremlin outreach to Trump’s GOP

Tucker Carlson, the conservative former Fox News host, falsely claimed that prominent U.S. newspapers and television outlets had refused to interview President Vladimir Putin since his invasion of Ukraine. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov corrected this claim, stating that they receive many requests for interviews. Carlson was allowed to interview Putin due to his different stance from major Western media outlets. This move by the Kremlin shows their hope for the continued blocking of U.S military aid to Ukraine by the Republican Party and a potential return to presidency by Donald Trump. The Kremlin has portrayed itself as aligning with traditional conservative values shared with MAGA conservatives, putting down Western promotion of transgender rights, and has crushed free speech and LGBTQ+ identity expression.
