Powerful atmospheric river pummels Northwest with over 8 inches of rain as rivers begin to rise

Over 10 million people across the Pacific Northwest are facing flood warnings due to a strong atmospheric river. This has resulted in heavy rainfall in an area already saturated by earlier weather phenomena. Over the last 24 hours, more than 8 inches of rain were recorded, causing rivers to reach flood stage. In Washington, the Skagit, Snoqualmie, Skokomish, and Grays Rivers are expected to flood roads, farms, and some residential areas. The weather system is also affecting Oregon’s Cascade mountains, southern Washington, and far northwest California, with the flood watches set to expire by Thursday. Early signs suggest another atmospheric river may hit the region by early weekend.
