A suspected armed carjacker was pursued by police from Fontana to Santa Clarita when the stolen vehicle, a red Toyota Tacoma, got a flat tire on the 5 Freeway. The chase began following a report of an armed carjacking in Fontana and continued through the San Gabriel Valley and Los Angeles. The vehicle came to a stop near Exit 169 after the driver hit a spike strip on the freeway. The driver then surrendered to police and was bitten by a deployed K-9, prompting a use of force investigation. Police did not disclose the driver’s identity or potential charges.
