Pete Antonacci lay dead outside Florida Gov. Ron Desantis’ office

Pete Antonacci, Florida’s director of the controversial elections security office, died abruptly after a meeting in Governor Ron DeSantis’ office and lay unattended for 24 minutes before being found. Antonacci was known for his wide-ranging roles in state government and was heading the controversial Office of Elections Crimes and Security at the time of his death. The circumstances of Antonacci’s sudden departure from the meeting and subsequent collapse were recorded on CCTV and reported by the Florida Bulldog news site. Following his collapse, attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Antonacci’s office had been criticized for spearheading the arrests of 20 Floridians, mostly Black, for having voted illegally in the 2020 elections.
