Pennsylvania redesigns its mail-in ballots to reduce voter errors
Pennsylvania is redesigning its mail-in ballots for the 2024 primary to reduce common voter errors that result in rejections, such as missing signatures, incorrect dates, and the omission of secrecy envelopes. The Pennsylvania Department of State has collaborated with the Center For Civic Design and county officials to make the ballots easier to complete. The new ballots emphasize visual cues and clear instructions, including color-coded envelopes and enhanced instructions. Approximately 2.8% of mail-in ballots were rejected in the state’s 2023 primary due to voter errors. The redesigned ballots will be ready for the primary election on April 23, 2024.
