Part of Ventura County community evacuated due to brush fire
An evacuation order has been issued in northern Ventura County due to a brush fire near Somis. The fire was reported at around 10:30 a.m. Saturday, and by 12:35 p.m., it had spread to roughly 311 acres. The blaze is being fueled by 30-mile-per-hour southeasterly winds. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department estimates that up to 45,000 people could be affected by Public Safety Power Shutoffs amid the ongoing wind event. A temporary evacuation point has been established at Ventura Community College.
