Palestinian student shot in Vermont paralyzed from the chest down from lodged bullet, mother says

Hisham Awartani, a Palestinian college student, is paralyzed from the chest down after being shot in Vermont over Thanksgiving weekend. Awartani’s family has launched a GoFundMe to cover rehabilitation costs. The shooting also injured two other Palestinian students, Kinnan Abdalhamid and Tahseen Ali Ahmad. Jason J. Eaton, 48, was arrested and charged with three counts of attempted murder. Although police have linked Eaton to the attack, they are still searching for a motive. The victims’ families have called for the case to be treated as a hate crime, given the recent surge in anti-Muslim and anti-Arab bias incidents in the United States.
