Pa. Supreme Court to weigh in on Delaware County Memorial closure
The Foundation of Delaware County is suing Prospect Medical Holdings over its decision to shut down certain services in the Crozer Health hospital system. The foundation argues that Prospect had agreed to maintain acute care services in the four-hospital system for at least 10 years. Although a preliminary injunction to halt closures was granted in 2022, it was later overturned by the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court. The case has now reached the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Meanwhile, an agreement to sell the financially struggling Crozer system is under review, with the potential impact of the Supreme Court’s decision on this deal being unclear.
