Orioles acquire Cy Young Award winner Corbin Burnes in wake of sale of team

The Baltimore Orioles have traded for 2021 NL Cy Young Award winner Corbin Burnes from the Milwaukee Brewers. Burnes has a 2.86 ERA, the lowest among pitchers with at least 500 innings pitched since 2020, and his 11.1 K/9 is the second-best mark in baseball. He has been an All-Star for the last three seasons. Meanwhile, the Orioles are being sold for an estimated $1.725 billion to David Rubenstein and Mike Arougheti, with MLB legend Cal Ripken Jr. also set to join the new ownership group. This follows last year’s division win for the team, driven by 2023 Rookie of the Year Gunnar Henderson and 2022 runner-up Adley Rutschman.
