NYC train collision causes subway derailment; 24 injured

Two subway trains collided and derailed in Manhattan near 96th Street and Broadway on the Upper West Side, injuring 24 people with non-life-threatening injuries. The incident involved two 1 trains, one carrying 300 passengers and the other out of service due to vandalism. The out-of-service train had been vandalized and an emergency cord was pulled, causing it to remain stuck in the station. The MTA is working to restore full subway service by Friday, but disruptions on the 1, 2, and 3 lines, and changes to the 4 and 5 lines are expected until then.
