NYC congestion pricing draft shows costly commute, especially for New Jersey drivers

The Traffic Mobility Review Board is recommending a $5 discount for New Jersey drivers who pay tolls to enter Manhattan via specific tunnels, but not for drivers crossing the George Washington Bridge. If implemented, this would result in an increased daily commuting cost for some drivers. The tolls have been implemented to curb traffic in Manhattan, but the costs and fairness of these tolls are contentious issues. These recommendations will need to be formally adopted by the advisory board and approved by the MTA. Meanwhile, New Jersey is suing the federal government to block the tolls.
