Newest breed to join the American Kennel Club: Lancashire heeler

The American Kennel Club (AKC) has officially recognized the Lancashire heeler as a breed. This rare herding breed is known for being small, active, and intelligent, with a unique “smile”. The Lancashire heeler is now eligible to participate in thousands of dog shows across the U.S., including the prominent Westminster Kennel Club show. The breed, which can both drive cattle and rout rats, is extremely versatile and enjoys participating in a range of canine sports and pursuits. Currently, only about 5,000 of this breed exist worldwide.
