New Year, new laws in Nevada
Starting January 1, 2024, Nevada implemented 80 new laws, including an increase in the marijuana possession limit to 2.5 ounces. The state also now allows recreational marijuana retailers to sell medical cannabis without a separate license, while the Cannabis Compliance Board may grant business licenses to former felons. Other new laws stipulate full insurance coverage for breast cancer tests, extended Medicaid postpartum care coverage from 60 days to a year, a ban on solitary confinement in prisons except as a last resort, and permission for Nevada to become the seventh state to allow “human composting,” an organic method of disposing Human remains.
