NC storm updated forecast: Heavy rain, winds, power outages

A powerful storm swept across North Carolina, causing significant power outages and claiming at least one life in Catawba County. Over 173,000 households were without power, with Mecklenburg County and Wake County accounting for over 23,000 and 19,570 outages respectively. The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for several counties. Heavy rain and strong winds were expected to continue through the evening. The storm has also led to the cancellation of council meetings in Morrisville and Raleigh, and a state of emergency was declared by Governor Roy Cooper.
