Mother of Michigan school shooter wishes son had ‘killed us instead’

Jennifer Crumbley, the mother of a Michigan school shooter, testified in her own defense denying any responsibility for the deaths of four students. Alongside her husband, Crumbley is the first parent in the U.S. to be charged in a mass school shooting committed by their child. She rejected blame for the gun used by her son Ethan Crumbley and denied ignoring his mental health. The Crumbleys were summoned to a meeting by the school staff to discuss a violent drawing by their son, but they declined to take him home and the shooting ensued. Jennifer Crumbley also denied any role in buying or storing the handgun used by her son, shifting the responsibility to her husband.
