Minneapolis neighbor accused of beating, impaling grocery clerk with golf club is charged with second-degree murder

Robert Skafte, a former Kansas City Ballet dancer, was murdered in a Minneapolis grocery store. He is remembered by friends and colleagues as a caring individual who made a significant impact in his community and on stage. The suspect in his murder, identified as Schulz, reportedly assaulted Skafte in the store before fleeing to a nearby high-rise apartment, where he was eventually arrested after a six-hour standoff with the police. Prior to the attack, Schulz had been subject to an eviction complaint and a judge’s order for compulsory mental health treatment. Despite these interventions, the motives for the attack remain unclear.
