Mercer County Sheriff’s Deputy dies during pursuit

A Mercer County Sheriff’s Deputy in North Dakota was killed during a pursuit of a stolen vehicle driven by Ian Cramer, son of Sen. Kevin Cramer, R-ND. Cramer, who suffers from severe mental disorders, stole the vehicle from his parents after a visit to the emergency room. During the chase, Cramer crashed head-on into an unoccupied patrol vehicle which was pushed into a deputy preparing to deploy a tire deflation device, resulting in his death. After the crash, Cramer was taken into custody and transported to the McLean County Detention Center in Washburn. The incident is currently under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
