Mayor Whitmire urges Houstonians to stay off roads due to icy conditions

The Mayor of Houston, John Whitmire, has issued updates on the city’s response to abnormally cold weather. He made these remarks at the Denver Harbor Multi-Service Center, a hub designated as a warming center for residents affected by the freezing temperatures. Mayor Whitmire has called on city departments and external partners to adjust their plans and provide resources earlier on Monday. He also urged nonessential city officials and employees to work remotely on Tuesday, if possible. He will decide Tuesday’s plan for nonessential workers later, but expects normal service to resume by Wednesday.
