Man charged in 4 murders recently received $700,000 windfall – NBC Los Angeles

Jerrid Powell, the man charged with the serial murders of three homeless individuals in Los Angeles and the murder of an LA County employee, recently received a $700,000 personal injury payment. The payment was approved by the Santa Monica City Council after a lawsuit Powell filed for injuries sustained in a 2019 accident involving a city beach patrol vehicle. Powell was arrested last week and is also facing charges of residential robbery and being a felon in possession of a gun, stemming from a 2018 assault case. He has a history of legal disputes, including a dismissed lawsuit demanding $3.3 million for alleged emotional damage and sexual harassment.
