Lucas Glover withdraws from WM Open after missing tee time

In a rare incident, golfer Lucas Glover was forced to withdraw from the WM Phoenix Open after missing his scheduled tee time. Glover misread a text message about his tee time and was still in his hotel room when officials called him. The Official Rules of Golf state that players are expected to tee off at the exact stipulated time and any deviations can result in penalties or disqualification. The incident made room for the first alternate, Ryo Hisatsune, to enter the event. Glover, the 2009 U.S. Open champion, had recently won the Wyndham Championship and the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
