‘Long-duration’ storm to blast Pacific Northwest with flooding, snow

The Pacific Northwest is forecasted to face multiple storms over the next week, potentially resulting in heavy precipitation and gusty winds. Forecasters predict 4 to 8 inches of rain for lower elevations and as much as 15 to 20 inches in the mountains. This heavy precipitation could trigger flooding and landslides and disrupt travel. The National Weather Service has deemed this a “long-duration” event. In addition, rising temperatures are expected to melt snow in the region, which could complicate the situation and lead to river flooding.
