Long-dormant Montrose Management District, still facing pushback, up and running again – Houston Public Media
Dimitri Fetokakis, restaurant owner and board member for the recently revived Montrose Management District in Houston, is expected to vote to send out new tax bills to local business owners. The district was previously dormant due to legal challenges and petitions calling for its dissolution. The funds from these taxes will mostly go towards public safety and security measures, as well as economic development, and maintenance and beautification of the local area. The board will also consider the nominations of four new board members. The district has a projected budget of more than $2.1 million for the upcoming year and about $32.5 million over the next 15 years, with 60% of that revenue to be spent on public safety and security.
