Latest California rain, snow timing and totals forecast

The weather forecast for Northern California indicates dry skies through the weekend with daytime highs in the mid-60s in the Valley and Foothills. However, beneficial rains are expected next week, with on-and-off showers on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. A total of 1.5 inches or more could fall in Valley areas, and 2-3 inches are possible in the West Slope of the Sierra. The upcoming weather systems are expected to be warm, causing the Sierra snow levels to start high, but cooler air on Wednesday might drop snow levels below 7,000 feet. Heavy, wet snow is predicted at ski resorts above 8,000 feet.
