Las Vegas judge who was tackled in wild courtroom video sentences her attacker
Deobra Delone Redden, a defendant who attacked Clark County District Court Judge Mary Kay Holthus in her Las Vegas courtroom, has been sentenced by the same judge to up to four years in prison for an unrelated case involving a baseball bat attack. Redden attacked Judge Holthus last week, moments after pleading for leniency and claiming he was trying to change his violent ways. The incident resulted in a courtroom marshal being hospitalized with a bleeding gash on his forehead and a dislocated shoulder. Despite being assaulted, Judge Holthus returned to work the next day. The court’s chief judge, Jerry Wiese, praised court clerk Michael Lasso for his quick response in protecting Judge Holthus during the incident.
