Largest survey of transgender people in the US reveals key insights at a time when trans rights are under attack
In the largest survey of transgender people in the United States, 92,329 respondents reported their life experiences and challenges in areas including family life, health care, employment, education, and housing. The 2022 US Transgender Survey conducted by the National Center for Transgender Equality found that while many transgender people who have transitioned were satisfied with their lives, they continue to face disparities and discrimination. For example, the unemployment rate among respondents was almost five times the national average, nearly a quarter of respondents avoided seeing a doctor due to fear of mistreatment, and some reported moving states due to laws targeting transgender people.
