Jury in Rudy Giuliani defamation trial begins deliberations after he opts not to testify

The jury in the defamation trial against Rudy Giuliani began deliberations after the lawyer for two Georgia election workers, Ruby Freeman and Wandrea ArShaye Moss, argued they should each be awarded $24 million in damages. Giuliani was previously found liable for defamation claims against them. Attorney Michael Gottlieb based his calculation on the expert testimony of a Northwestern University professor, Ashlee Humphreys, who spoke about the millions of impressions that 16 statements Giuliani made had online and on television. Giuliani’s defense did not refute the facts of the case but argued that the damages sought were inappropriate. Freeman and Moss were thrust into the public eye after Giuliani posted a video of them processing ballots and claimed they were engaged in a fake ballot processing scheme.
