Jury foreperson in Jennifer Crumbley case says the mother failed to ‘secure’ the gun used in the mass shooting from her son
Jennifer Crumbley has been found guilty of all four counts of involuntary manslaughter for her responsibility in the shooting carried out by her son, Ethan Crumbley, at Oxford High School in November 2021. This is the first time in US history that a parent has been held responsible for their child’s mass school shooting. The jury’s decision was influenced by evidence including the son’s notebook writings and the fact that Jennifer was the last known person to have custody of the gun. Jennifer Crumbley, who faces up to 15 years in prison per count, is scheduled for sentencing on April 9. Her husband, James Crumbley, faces the same charges and is set for trial next month.
