Jury finds Jennifer Crumbley, the Michigan school shooter’s mother, guilty of manslaughter
A Michigan jury has convicted Jennifer Crumbley, the mother of a school shooter, of involuntary manslaughter in relation to the shootings that took place at Oxford High School in 2021. This makes her the first parent in the U.S. to be held responsible for a child carrying out a mass school attack. Prosecutors argue Crumbley failed to secure a gun and ammunition at home and did not seek mental health support for her son, Ethan. Ethan, now 17, pleaded guilty to murder and terrorism and is serving a life sentence. Jennifer Crumbley’s sentencing is set for April 9th and the maximum term for involuntary manslaughter is 15 years.
