Jury finds Jennifer Crumbley guilty of manslaughter in son’s school shooting

Jennifer Crumbley, the mother of Michigan school shooter Ethan Crumbley, was found guilty by a jury of four counts of involuntary manslaughter. Jennifer and her husband James Crumbley are a rare case of parents being charged in connection with a school shooting carried out by their child. The parents had bought their son the gun used in the shooting and failed to respond to warning signs, including violent drawings and online searches for bullets. The jury deliberated for about 11 hours, and sentencing is scheduled for April 9. Jennifer Crumbley and her attorney argued that the school was nonchalant and did not insist that their son be taken home despite exhibiting warning signs.
