The US has been told by Israel that the current phase of its offensive against Hamas should be complete in about 2-3 weeks, according to two US officials. This doesn’t mean an end to combat operations, but it would reduce the intensity and level of bombing, allowing for more targeted strikes as Israel pursues Hamas’ remaining leadership. Israeli Defense Minister, Benny Gantz, stated in a meeting with US National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan, that the war will last more than several months. The US has been urging Israel to do more to protect civilians during its offensive.
