Israel-Hamas war, truce extended by two days
The White House has expressed hope that some Americans might be released as part of a two-day extension in the pause of hostilities between Hamas and Israel. This was disclosed by National Security Council strategic communications coordinator John Kirby, who added that the failure of Hamas to release American hostages was not considered a tactical move or a form of leverage. Kirby further noted that Israel has an added responsibility to account for civilian lives as it plans for potential offensives in southern Gaza.
