Israel announces partial troop withdrawal from Gaza in new phase of Hamas war

Israel has announced plans to partially withdraw its forces from Gaza in the coming months as the conflict with Hamas evolves. The Israeli Defense Forces will shift to more targeted operations against Hamas, reducing artillery and air strikes use, while some reservists will return to civilian life. The war, according to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is set to continue for many more months. This decision follows US President Joe Biden’s administration urging Israel to scale back its offensive in Gaza and limit civilian casualties. Despite controlling most of Gaza, Israeli forces have not yet captured their prime target, Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.
