Is Philadelphia Macy’s open? Officials put renewed focus on retail thefts, shoplifters in wake of deadly stabbing in Center City

The Macy’s store in Center City Philadelphia reopened on Wednesday following the fatal stabbing of two security guards. One of the guards, Eric Harrison, was killed, while the other, Christian Mitchell, remains in critical condition. The suspect, Tyrone Tunnell, was apprehended shortly after the incident. There is now increased attention on shoplifting incidents in Philadelphia, leading to the formation of a new task force focused exclusively on retail theft. Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner also urged businesses to report petty crime as part of efforts to combat serial offenders.
