‘I’m losing engine.’ Pilot reported trouble before Clearwater plane crash.

A small plane crashed into a mobile home park in Clearwater, Florida, killing the pilot and two people on the ground. The pilot, identified as Jemin G. Patel, made an emergency radio call moments before the crash, stating that he was losing engine power. The plane, a Beechcraft Bonanza V35, was owned by Patel’s company, Control Data Inc. The reasons for the crash are still unclear and the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating. The aircraft took off from Vero Beach about an hour before the crash, and flight records show that it began to descend rapidly before the crash, reaching a speed of approximately 140 mph at the time of impact.
