Illinois school closures prompted by brutal cold – NBC Chicago
The persistent cold temperatures in the Chicago area have caused several schools and colleges to either close or switch to remote learning. Roosevelt and DePaul universities are among those switching to online instruction, while Northern Illinois University and Loyola University are yet to announce their mode of instruction. Additionally, certain high schools, including Buffalo Grove High School, are completely closing down. The National Weather Service warns of potential wind chills of 25-to-40 degrees below zero and has issued a wind chill advisory through Wednesday morning. Schools not in the warned region, such as Manteno’s school district, are also switching to e-learning.
