I-PASS transponders will be replaced with stickers

The Illinois State Toll Highway Authority will replace I-PASS transponders with stickers for toll payments. The new payment method will be cheaper for both the agency and drivers, and will last as long as the vehicle’s windshield. The stickers will be available at tollway customer service centers by the end of January, and will be offered online, at Jewel-Osco and Road Rangers in February. Old transponders will still function until their expiry or battery depletion. The switch to stickers will not affect toll rates, with private vehicle rates remaining unchanged in 2024, although commercial vehicle rates have increased by 5.22%.
