‘I just had a feeling he was still in that building’

Ahmir Jolliff, a sixth-grader, was killed in a school shooting in Perry, Iowa. The 11-year-old was known for his cheerful nature and was shot three times by 17-year-old Dylan Butler at Perry High School. Butler had allegedly been bullied for years, leading to the incident that also left seven others wounded. Friends and family remember Ahmir as a joyful boy who loved soccer, played the tuba, and sang in the choir. His mother, Erica Jolliff, hopes that this tragic incident will lead to better monitoring of students’ well-being in schools.
