Hunter Biden pleads not guilty to federal tax charges

President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, pleaded not guilty to nine federal tax offenses and additional charges related to lying on a gun purchase form. The charges are a result of a lengthy investigation into Biden’s tax and business dealings. Previously, a plea deal that would have given him two years’ probation and avoided a gun charge prosecution had been agreed upon, but the deal collapsed due to issues raised by a federal judge. Hunter Biden is also facing an impeachment inquiry from Republicans regarding alleged influence peddling with his father, President Biden. If convicted of the tax charges, Hunter Biden could face up to 17 years in prison.
