Houston city leaders warn of possible severe weather on Monday

The Houston Office of Emergency Management is coordinating with multiple agencies to ensure fan safety at the tailgate outside of NRG Stadium due to expected severe weather. A wind advisory will be issued on Monday, and this cold front is expected to bring storms and wind gusts up to 40 mph. The agencies involved in the safety measures include the National Weather Service, Houston Police Department, and Houston Fire Department. Chief George Buenik of the Mayor’s Office of Public Safety and Homeland Security expressed concerns about the tailgating fans, particularly those with pop-up tents, and has plans to move fans to shelter if severe weather occurs. Houston residents can get weather alerts from alerthouston.org and fans can get updates by texting “CFPHouston” to 888777.
