House passes child tax credit expansion : NPR

The US House has approved a bipartisan tax package that includes a temporary expansion of the child tax credit, business tax breaks, and credits for low-income housing development. The $33 billion child tax credit will be expanded for three years, allowing more low-income families to access it and increasing the credit for many families. The package also restores several business tax credits, including deductions for research and development. However, some Democrats criticized the bill for not providing enough support for low-income families. The Senate has not yet scheduled a vote on the bill.
