House explodes in Arlington after police warn of man setting off flare gun

A house in Arlington, Virginia exploded Monday night, minutes after police shared information about a suspect firing a flare gun inside the home. The Arlington County Police Department had posted on social media just after 8:15 p.m., stating that officers were investigating the incident. Witnesses on social media reported hearing a loud explosion around 8:30 p.m., which was confirmed by the county police who said the suspect had fired several rounds in the house prior to the explosion. A resident in the area described seeing armed officials surrounding the house and trying to convince the suspect to come out before the explosion occurred. The incident is still under investigation.
