Here’s How To Help The Family Of The Boy Who Died After Getting Sick In A Migrant Shelter

The community in Pilsen is raising funds to provide stable housing for the family of a 5-year-old boy, Jean Carlos Martinez Rivero, who tragically died in a city-run migrant shelter after falling ill. The goal of the fundraiser is to collect enough money to cover one year’s rent, utilities, groceries, and asylum application fees. The Figueroa Wu Family Foundation is handling the collections and is also seeking potential landlords who can provide housing for the family. Jean Carlos and his family were among thousands of migrants transported to Chicago from Texas during a humanitarian crisis that stretched city resources.
