‘Help is not on the way’: Adams despondent over migrant funding after DC trip

Despite receiving no commitments for federal reimbursements for asylum-seeker care, the allowance for more migrants to legally work, or an action plan to divert migrants from New York, Adams is receiving some assistance from FEMA, which will embed a staffer in the mayor’s office to help streamline information sharing. However, negotiations regarding a supplemental budget package that could provide additional aid are described as “extremely fluid.” Adams’ handling of the migrant crisis has contributed to a low approval rating, with only 28% of New York City voters approving of his job performance.
