Health department issues warning after 27 sickened by raw oysters

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has issued a warning about a potential link between raw oysters consumed at local restaurants and gastrointestinal illnesses. So far, 27 cases have been identified in connection with four restaurants, which remain unnamed. The department is collaborating with the California Department of Public Health to investigate the source of the illnesses. Until the source is confirmed, residents, especially those who are most vulnerable such as young children, the elderly, and the immunocompromised, are advised against consuming raw oysters. Anyone who has recently consumed raw oysters and experienced symptoms is urged to report to the Department of Public Health.
