Harris County Judge Frank Aguilar suspended with pay after Galveston assault charge
Harris County Judge Frank Aguilar has been suspended with pay following charges for family violence in Galveston. The charges are based on an incident that occurred on New Year’s Eve 2023, where Aguilar allegedly caused bodily harm to his girlfriend. Despite his girlfriend later denying the allegations, the Texas State Commission on Judicial Conduct suspended Aguilar until his charges are dismissed or he is acquitted. Prosecutors had previously asked Aguilar to recuse himself from seven family violence cases, which he denied. Aguilar was acquitted of similar charges in 2010 and is currently out on a $1,500 bond.
