Gunman Who Killed 3 in UNLV Shooting Had Pursued College Jobs, Officials Say

A University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) shooting by a former professor, Anthony Polito, resulted in three faculty members’ deaths and left a fourth seriously injured. The shooter, who was killed during a gunfight with the police, was found in financial trouble and had previously attempted to secure jobs at colleges in the state. He was also found to have mailed 22 letters to various university employees across the country, one of which contained a harmless white powder. The shooting occurred in the university’s business school, where the late professors Patricia Navarro Velez and Cha Jan Chang had offices. The incident has shaken the campus community as it was preparing for final exams.
