Group will appeal court ruling that Georgia voter challenges don’t violate federal law

The group Fair Fight Action is appealing a trial court ruling stating that voter challenges in Georgia do not violate federal voting rights law. The appeal will be presented to the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. The original ruling was passed by U.S. District Judge Steve Jones who stated that the Texas-based nonprofit True the Vote did not violate the Voting Rights Act when it challenged the eligibility of over 360,000 Georgia voters before the 2021 runoff election for two crucial U.S. Senate seats. Fair Fight Action, founded by former Democratic Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, had accused True the Vote of violating the 1965 Voting Rights Act by intimidating voters.
