Grand, Milwaukee Avenue Bike Lane Construction Will Wrap In Spring

The construction of bike lanes and various safety upgrades along sections of Grand Avenue in West Town and Milwaukee Avenue in Bucktown, Chicago are expected to be completed this spring. The projects, launched last year by the Chicago Department of Transportation, include protected bike lanes, slower speed limits, new bus stops, and other improvements. Additional construction will occur on another stretch of Grand Avenue during the summer. The enhancements are meant to combat congestion and safety issues, particularly for Milwaukee Avenue, which is the city’s busiest bike lane and is known for high-profile crashes. Details on the projects can be tracked on the city’s transportation department website.
