GOP committee members vote to remove Karamo at contested meeting

The Michigan Republican State Committee voted on Saturday to remove state party chair Kristina Karamo, in an effort to improve the GOP’s performance in the upcoming elections. The committee stated that a change was necessary due to the party’s poor performance, however, Karamo has declared the meeting void as it was not in accordance with the party’s bylaws. The State Committee members voted 40-5 to remove Karamo, Dan Hartman, the general counsel, and Jim Copas, the party chief of staff. Despite this, Karamo has resisted the results and pledged to contest them. This event adds further instability to a party already struggling with internal dissension.
