Georgia prosecutors predict jail sentences in Trump 2020 election case | Georgia

Fulton county prosecutors are seeking prison sentences in the Georgia criminal case against Donald Trump and his top allies for allegedly violating the racketeering statute in efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. No plea agreements are currently expected to be offered to Trump, his former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, or his former election lawyer Rudy Giuliani. The prosecutors’ endgame could inform legal strategies ahead of a potential trial next year, such as plea deal negotiations. Trump and his 18 co-defendants originally pleaded not guilty to the charges, with four of the 18 subsequently negotiating plea deals. The case has strained relations between prosecutors and defense lawyers.
